What did the Egyptians think the afterlife would look like?

The Egyptian afterlife was modeled on the land of living! They imagined there was a river with sandy shores directly analogous to the Nile which ran through a plain surrounded on all sides by mountains. It must have looked very beautiful! At the western end, the sun god would enter at the end of the day!

Besides the god of the underworld, what other stuff was Osiris known as?

Although Osiris was the god of the underworld, he also acted like he was god of fertility and agriculture, crazy isn't it? He was also seen as the life force behind all things. His role was VERY complex and he was really connected with the living earth!

What was life in the underworld like?

Living in the underworld was awful unless you brought the Book of the Dead along with you which would help you live through the underworld. The underworld was believed to be a land full of dangers! It was certainly not a very good place to be after you died!

In your opinion, do you believe in afterlife?

The afterlife was not something to look forward to during the Egyptian times. It was considered a very dangerous place to be because it was also known as the land full of dangers. This was why the dead brought the Book of the Dead to help fight off horrible things that would come in their way like snakes, fires and executioners, which would have scared a lot of people half to death!

What did the dead people need to bring to the underworld in order to survive?

People had to bring the Book of the Dead otherwise they probably wouldn't have had a very good chance of surviving in the underworld! The Book of the Dead contained magic spells that would help fight off dangerous creatures that came in there way, which would have been scary, in my opinion! Some of the creatures were snakes, fires and executioners, people that chop your head off :( The Book of the Dead was guaranteed to give you a safe passage through the underworld.
